Vladimir Propp's Character Roles.
In This lesson we learnt about a russian critic called Vladimir Propp who came up with the theory that every novel and story consisted of eight main roles, these roles may be fulfilled by characters or feelings within the narrative.
The eight different roles were as follows:
-The Hero (seeks something)
-The Villan (Opposes the Hero)
-The Donor (Helps the hero by providing a magic object)
-The dispatcher (Sends hero on his way)
-The False Hero (Falsely assuming the role of the hero)
-The Helper (Gives support to the hero)
-The Princess (Reward for Hero and needs protection from villan)
-Father of Princess.
